Run like hell
I saw it at eM's. Then I heard her sing it. So I went to read it again.
And then an inspiring thought. No, not the one synonynmous with Bollywood.
Why not re-tell an old story in a similar vein?
Presenting, Run Like Hell in a different avatar.
Large mouthfuls of air
He kept taking in
Inhaling and exhaling
The sound of his heavy breathing
Masked his tarmac-pounding
His legs took long strides
Practice shows, grimly he thought
He had to run hard
Harder than ever before
Today, or it would be never
His ears caught a barking
Of a dog in the distance
He cursed the canine species
The feet they had for running
And the teeth they had for biting
He slowly began to tire
How a man can outrun a dog
That was after him
He knew he had to run harder
Today, or it would be never
He turned and jumped over bushes
A ploy that was useless, he knew
The dog would still chase him
Catch him with legs it had for running
And hold him with teeth it had for biting
He looked over his shoulder
To see how close the dog is
With hope to find how far the dog is
To know if he had to run harder
Today, or it would be never
In his anxiety
He didn't see the lamp post
Down he went, without making a sound
The dog was upon him in an instant
And let out a low growl
Another man came up soon
Good boy, he told the dog
This man will return to prison
Run he will not anymore
Today, or ever.

Very eloquently written, Hyde. Especially the part where he keeps turning behind to see how close the dog is. It's too real...
